This is the work in-progress Death Note fan fiction by the sleepless shinigami_ebola entitled Only God May Judge Me. Given its absolute girth, I felt it necessary to create a separate journal. Here you will find the finished products of the chapters, updates with story art and side comics and perhaps even some spin-off fics, all while trying to be organized... somehow. This is the only multichaptered L/Mikami centric fic in existence, and hopefully within 2009, I may finally see this story come to rest.

Summary: L fakes his death and sees the demise of those closest to him and to the answers of the Kira case. Only until he commits to find redemption does he search for those truths in a criminal just as lost as he. The two fall in a downward spiral of animosity towards one another and the world, until they end up pursuing a demon L thought was long since exorcised. Haunted by the past and inevitable future, the two find themselves struggling in a demented, godless world, only to learn that they were never really alone.

Place in canon: An alternate universe starting from the span of the 7th manga to the very end a year after the warehouse incident. Also based off the BB murder cases. However, the story is implemented in such a way that it suits all the requisites of the manga canon.

Warnings: You may be reading this and may or may not have some experience with my work in writing. That is fine. I will say that this has some of my darkest and most disturbing writing, so squeamishness may not be good here. Oh, and since it covers the end of the manga and beyond, expect 99% of the spoilers to be exploited. I also tend to steal icons--if one of them is yours, drop me a comment and tell me which icon. I'll credit. Seriously.

Soundtrack: I could not have written this story without the brilliant work of Poe and her album Haunted, whose songs create the perfect atmosphere for different parts of the story. I highly recommend downloading it, as I allude to it quite often.
